There is only a week and a half left of my Freshman year. I cannot believe it is basically over already. It just seems like yesterday where I was lost and confused and had no idea what college life was like. Now that I am finally settled in, I don't want to leave. I am going to miss the independence, freedom, and the lifestyle of a college student. This semester has been amazing for me because it is my first semester as an official brother of my fraternity and my classes have been easy and fun.
Since I have been down here I have grown up a lot emotionally. I think I have become stronger emotionally and smarter socially. I have learned to become more social and care-free, while also learning how to be responsible. I believe that this year has been one of the most important years of my life.
Since I will be transferring back to New York, I will be commuting to school instead of living on campus. Therefore, I will be back under the roof of my parents, which means I won't be able to do half the things I do down here at college. I will have to go to sleep at a normal time or else I will probably get yelled at. I am not looking forward to living back at home because I love the feeling of being independent. I love living on my own because I don't have to deal with anybody's BS.
The one good thing about living at home is that I will finally be able to see my girlfriend on a daily basis. We definitely need that because being separated for this year has been so rough on both of us. When we are together my life becomes so much easier. This next week and a half will be bitter-sweet. I want to go home to be with my girlfriend, but I want the lifestyle that I have down here.

Yankee Game
Today I am going to the New York Yankees vs. the Baltimore Orioles game. It is in Baltimore and I am going with a few of my best friends. I cannot wait to go because I haven't been to a baseball game in about two years. Also, this will only be my second time going to Camden Yards.
I am wearing my Yankee pinstripes to see how many people will try to curse me off during the game. I love being a Yankee fan because I love seeing people's reactions when I am wearing my uniform. Many people will give me an ugly look or they will smile and give me a head nod. It is so obvious to see what people's views are when it comes to sports. It is hysterical when you go to an opposing team's ballpark with a Yankee jersey on. About half the crowd will boo you or say something hurtful.
I love getting all of the attention because in the end I know that they are just jealous that their team has not won twenty-seven World Series rings. Being a Yankee fan is great because wherever you go there will be a few fans. I see Yankee fans in the most random places. It is incredible how many people are bandwagon fans just because the Yankees win a lot. I am a real fan because I've been a fan since I was a kid and I have never rooted for another team besides the Yankees.

Crazy Weekend
This weekend was one of the most memorable weekends of my Freshman year. It is all because of Saturday, because I had been looking forward to this day since the second I had been affiliated with Alpha Kappa Lambda.
Saturday we were officially recognized as the Beta Chi chapter in Alpha Kappa Lambda. We were chartered, which means that we become an official chapter instead of a colony, which is what we have been since November 11, 2007. Now I am currently a founding father of Alpha Kappa Lambda Beta Chi chapter of George Mason University.
I am so honored to be a founding father of a fraternity because I am a Freshman. When I signed my name on the charter I was so ecstatic. I have been a brother for a semester and my name will be on the charter for as long as this fraternity is around.
After the ceremony was the best part. Nine of our brothers rented out the Executive Suite in the Marriott Hotel in Fair Oaks Mall. It was so much fun because there were so many people in one very large hotel room. We felt that we were VIP in the hotel because in order to get to the sixth floor you had to swipe your room key. So when My brother Tucker and I got in the elevator we were acting so rich and stuck up it was hysterical. I really wish I could have one of these moments every weekend, I'd be that happiest person in the world.

And so it begins...
Today is my first day blogging and I must say I can't be more excited. This blog is about me, Frank Gervasi, Freshman at George Mason University.I am from Massapequa, New York which is about five hours away from George Mason. I also have a girlfriend who goes to SUNY Albany back in New York. It takes about 8 hours of straight driving from one university to the other.
I am in Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity, my roommate Tucker Freeman is also a brother in my fraternity. This leads to a lot of crazy stuff occurring in my dorm. Our dorm is the party dorm on our floor. Every night we don't go to sleep until at least three in the morning.
Life as a Freshman is fun and all but when things go wrong it seems that the world is against me. It seems like a chain of negative events hit me at once. For example, the other day I was sitting in my dorm and all of a sudden four people rush in my room all being extremely loud. On a normal day this wouldn't phase me but today, I had to write an essay for my class so I needed to concentrate. I wanted to go crazy but I had to keep it under control because I can't write an essay when I am angry or frustrated. So I politely asked if they could leave and I got an ignorant answer back "Dude this is our room relax have some fun." I became furious because when I do work everyone is loud, but when my roommates are working I am dead silent. I think it all boils down to respect and how much you have it for the people around you. Even though I get frustrated easy, I have to realize to have as much fun as possible because Freshman year will be over in less than a month. This semester seems like it flew right by thanks to the snow week, spring break, and all of the nice weather we have been having lately.
Overall this year has been one of the most exciting years of my life. The main reason is because it is my first year on my own and I have been loving every second of it. Next year I will be transferring to a New York school and I will be commuting. So this might be the only year of my college career where I am acutally living on campus and not commuting.
